LIFE LATELY // FALL 2016

Fall has been a season of growth for me and as the leaves changed colours many changes came into my life as well. This week I am saying goodbye to Québec city and a chapter of life as I move back to my hometown of Montreal. Although I will be back from time to time as we will still own our little home in the mountain nearby, saying goodbye is very sentimental. Our time in Québec was a lovely journey, filled with amazing people and wonderful occurrences and there is no doubt I will miss it.

Fall is also the most magical season here in Quebec and after dazzling us with it's colourful foliage it let us know that winter is most definitely coming. Time for a new adventure! Virginie XO

DON'T BREATHE

I saw Don't Breathe last night in the theater and OH WOW: YOU WANT TO SEE THIS ONE! I dare not tell you much by fear of spoiling any of the great story points (Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues wrote the heck out of that script!!) but please trust me when I say: it's an absolute must see. Such a thrilling ride, with an all around awesome cast, beautiful photography and David Fincher-esque all around gloss. I'm in love. And THE perfect film for Halloween week-end too! Virginie XO

ZODIAC

I love this time of the year for watching tons and tons of horror / suspense / thriller / all around moody films. They are my absolute favourites (as I've shared before herehere and here)! David Fincher is one of the very best contemporary directors in the genre in my opinion. I love his whole filmography but have a special soft spot in my heart for Zodiac. Based on a true story, the film weaves a sophisticate yet creepy tale around the quest for the identity of the Zodiac killer, a serial murderer in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1960's and 70's. Jake Gyllenhaal is flawless as the lead character of this unconventional investigation and author of the book the film is based on, Robert Graysmith. A must see if, like me, your favourite part of Halloween is scary movies! LIFE LATELY // SUMMER 2016

I haven't blogged in a long long time because things have been a bit... chaotic. Ok, fine: very chaotic. It's so much easier to blog only the good moments and happy memories. However real life has ups and downs, and the past 3 months have been amongst the most challenging of my life.

See... my husband and I are currently separated. It took me 90 days to be able to simply write this down here. Being married has been an amazing journey in my life so far but challenges have inspired us to take time apart and re-assess. It's been a few months full of heartbreak, sleepless nights and way too much chocolate, but I am finally seeing the light, very very slowly. For the first time this week, I am feeling a little like myself again. And not the "myself" family and friends want me to be, but the one I am truly, deeply in my soul.

Summer is my favorite season and was there to cheer me up every morning, let me swim in countless pools, lakes and rivers and shun it's warm sunlight right into my heart. I think one day, once the heartbreak has subdued, I will be able to look at this Summer as a crossroad in my life, a turning point before many wonderful things could cross my path. Hard adventures that made me stronger. And for that they are more than worth being remembered forever. Virginie XO

MONTREAL BUSINESS TRIP

I recently had the opportunity to spend two weeks in Montreal for my new gig and got to celebrate my birthday in my hometown with close friends. There were a lot of reasons to celebrate and it felt like a really whimsical time, sparklers included! A lot of magical things happened, of the magnitude of things that shift the future forever, and I feel beyond blessed. Makes getting older a bit smoother.

I am also so very grateful for the warm welcome the Montreal Rodeo FX team had in store for me. I mean: have you seen this birthday installation? I hope I remember this time forever. Virginie XO
